Dr. Appt. update

Hello. So, some good news. Early this morning, I noticed that I’ve lost (started losing) my M.P. For those of you that don’t know what “M.P.” is, don’t worry, you don’t need to know (it would be TMI for you anyway). You just need to know that it’s a symptom of up-coming labor & that’s a symptom we want! Then, at the Dr. Appt., I found out that I’m 1.5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. (I was hoping for a little more dilation but the effacement progress is great!) The Dr. also stripped my membranes which could jump start labor. She said I could have some contractions today….still waiting for those. :(

This new OB seemed very eager to induce me – as soon as I wanted, which I think was supposed to be enticing to me but wasn’t. :) She did say though, she thought she would be able to induce me by breaking my water. That would be better to me than having a pitocin IV. However, when the bag of water is broken, the labor now has a deadline of 24 hrs. After that, the chance of infection getting to the baby in the womb is much higher…thus a c-section is peeking it’s head around the corner. So, I told the doc I wanted to wait as long as possible before being induced and that I wasn’t too desperate yet.

Because we’re waiting for inducement, this Monday I have an appointment for a non-stress test to make sure the baby isn’t under any stress. I don’t think he is because the Dr.s’ always rave about his calm & steady heart beat – a characteristic he gets from his daddy. :)

I do have an “inducement” appointment/date set for April 29th, at 5:30 AM!!!! That seems crazy-early but it’s not likely that I’ll sleep at all that night anyhow.

All-in-all, I just don’t think he’s ready to come out. He’s taking his time and that’s ok. Just hoping he decides to come out before 5:30 AM on the 29th! :) If not, he will have a more rude awakening and maybe so will mommy.

Tomorrow, it’s supposed to be in the 70’s! Yea! Also, it’s the first Farmer’s Market on the square around the capitol. Nathan and I will be going. I look forward to it! Besides the fresh cheese curds and other goodies to peruse and buy, we hope the walking will help bring labor on sooner. What a pleasant way to start having contractions. :)

Summing it all up – we’re taking baby steps. (no pun intended) ;)

Tomorrow’s Dr. appt.

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to go to tomorrow’s Dr.’s appt. and that little Lenz would be here by now (although, I’m still holding out for Sunday – Earth Day!). I have to see a whole new OB since mine has been out of town for the last 2 weeks. I’m anxious about tomorrow’s appt. – not only because it’s a different person doing a very personal exam, but mostly because I’m afraid she’ll tell me I’ve not made any progress…again. The last 2 appt. outcomes were easy to swallow but there’s something about being over your due-date and still not making progress. I believe, for me, it’s the looming “inducement” that threatens. In our Natural Childbirth class, we learned that (hospital-pitocin) inducements lead to a higher percentage of epidurals and epidurals lead to a higher percentage of c-sections. This is not what Nathan & I have desired for our labor and birth.

I know that in the end, just to have our baby boy with us will overwhelm what had to happen to get him here, but it seems that will be better understood on the “other side” of the delivery experience.

Anyway, we know we have so much love coming in from all of you and we have been carried by your support. If you think of it, say a little prayer for us as we prep for tomorrow’s appt. Any little sign of “progress” will do wonders for my spirits! ;)

Changing station

Changing StationOne of the things that I am anticipating with a slight sense of dread, is changing poopy diapers. I have never changed a poopy diaper. I’ve only changed one diaper in my entire life. Seriously… one single diaper. I was babysitting for some friends and their youngest had a wet diaper. It wasn’t so bad. But a poopy one? I know that it won’t be that bad. It isn’t like it’s complicated or anything…but it’s just one of those things. Read the rest of this entry »

Finished mobile

Completed mobileI finished up the mobile a couple nights ago. Well, almost finished. These things are pretty tricky to balance. It took me a couple tries to get it this far. A couple of the pieces still hit each other when it turns in just the right way. I’ll keep tweaking it and then super glue the strings in place once I have it just right.

Healthy checkup and mobile making

Mobile made by Uncle Larry’s father. We celebrated Good Friday by going to the doctor for the weekly checkup. Everything is fine, Kelli and baby are healthy, but there are no new signs that we are getting closer.

After the appointment we decided to go shopping for stuff to build a mobile. I grew up around incredible mobiles, my uncle Larry’s father was an expert mobile maker.
